This lesson teaches you 3 small, subtle bends that Stevie Ray Vaughan did in Box 1. Not as obvious as the big Albert King style bends you probably already know, these bends are like finishing touches on your licks, adding a layer of polish to your playing.

This video explores the topic of improvisation and imagination, learning to hear what you're going to play before you play it. For some reason, kids have no trouble being creative or imagining things, but for us adults, this can be quite difficult if we're not used to using our imaginations every day. Thankfully, this is something we can start doing again, but you have to be aware that it is part of the improvising process before you can do it.
There's a section in Lenny, during the first solo, where Stevie plays a series of 2 note chords, leading into the transition to the IV chord. That part always sounded so cool to me, so in this lesson, I'll teach you how to play it.

Do you have to force yourself to practice guitar? Maybe it's not because you're undisciplined, but because you've been practicing the wrong way. While there are benefits to strict practice, if you develop a negative association with playing the guitar, you'll be fighting a battle in your mind before you even pick up the guitar. Sometimes you need to just get lost in the music, and remember why it is that you started playing at all.

In this lesson you'll learn 3 chord embellishments that Stevie Ray Vaughan used over the I chord in his song "Life Without You". Much of this is reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix, and these are great examples of mixing lead and rhythm together.

In this lesson you'll learn about a technique called reverse raking that gives your notes a very cool sound. Used by SRV, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, John Mayer, Jimi Hendrix and others.
Last year for Christmas, I taught you some Hendrix/SRV style chords for the Silent Night melody. This year, I'm teaching a SRV-influenced solo to play over 1 chorus of the melody.
