SRV Little Wing Hammer-Ons

In this lesson, we take a look at some cool hammer-ons that Stevie Ray Vaughan played in the song Little Wing. These hammer-ons take place at 2:25, right at the end of a solo chorus. I played this wrong for over 15 years, but through teaching this song to a local student, I figured out a better way to play it that sounds closer to the original.

For this lesson I played my 2005 Fender SRV Signature Strat through a Wampler Ecstasy Overdrive, into a Samamp VAC 23 1x15 Combo Amp.

The amp was set on the 3 Watt setting, and I recently put in a Weber Neomag 15" Speaker which provides a smoother high-end and rounder low end than the Alnico Jensen I had in before.

The VAC 23 Settings were:

Volume: 3:30  |  Treble: 4:30  |  Bass: 11:30  |  Master: Full  |  Power: 3w  |  Boost: Off

The Ecstasy Overdrive settings were:

Tone: 9:30 | Bass: 7:00  |  Level: 11:30 |  Gain: 11:00 | Switch: Smooth
